Saturday: Lionel Tour & Mystery Cruise

Saturday morning there were two tours of the Lionel Train Museum. Each of these had about 20 to 30 people on them. The display was very impressive. It had four levels of trains operating at the same time. The scenery and auxiliary displays were very realistic, and those on the tour were able to operate many of the displays as they walked around. Thank You to Joe Marino for setting this event up for us to see. Joe helped build the display, as he likes trains and GTO's.

At 1:30 we began to line up along the south drive for the Mystery Cruise. I believe we had 73 cars lined up for this event. They would travel along a mapped out route to 6 destinations and collect a raffle ticket at each stop, to be used toward door prizes at the Bar BQ that night. The first stop was at Jim Causley Pontiac/ GMC. Rachel and Marcie Herbert, and their Tigers, flagged the GTO's in to the lot, then they were guided to a spot in front of our club banner. We took their picture, to be given to them later that evening. Our banner has the club logo and the words " THERE ARE TIGERS LOOSE ON THE STREETS" printed on a black background. Our fifth stop was at Cruiz'n Collectables, here we would let all the GTO's catch up, and support one of our sponsors. Then we were off again up Gratiot toward Mt. Clemens. Today was the Bearing Burners last summer cruise/ show. They held up traffic for us and we cruised through the center of downtown Mt. Clemens with 75 GTO's. It was a pretty cool site to see, and everyone there was getting up to watch as we passed by.

Then some of us had to go over to the park and lay out some things for the show on Sunday. This allowed some free time till the Bar BQ started at 6:00. Once it got started, everyone lined up to eat. Make sure you have your pass on, for this is all you can eat, and there was plenty of food for all to enjoy. The pictures were put out for the owners of the cars to claim, and they liked that surprise. They were in a nice folder to protect the picture, Thanks Cathy! We then followed with the door prize raffle. We had about 30 different packages to give away, and a grand prize (a print of Arnie Beswick doing a wheel stand in a drag race). The grand prize, and some of the other die cast cars and books, were donated by Cruiz'n Collectables and Jack and Betty Shimko.

The rest of the evening was for socializing and enjoying the DJ. Then someone got board and changed the entertainment to doing burnouts. It lasted for a little while, seems a trophy was involved, then we stopped it as it started to get a little crazy. Then it started to get late and the people and the cars faded away. Tomorrow would be another great day.
