unday brought
Metro Detroit beautiful cloudless skies, and brought Freedom Hill Metro Park the largest
one day GTO show in history. When the first show exhibitor rolled through the gate, the
Woodward GTO Tigers were ready. Early morning set up is always difficult, but the
registration area was ready to roll, the parking area was lined off and marked by rows,
and the club table was ready to go. We have always strived to make our registration and
parking go quickly and smoothly. Even this year with a record shattering 317 registrants,
everything flowed well.
Each year the GTO Classic Weekend event gets bigger. With more and more folks coming in
from out of state, the car show really takes on a whole new look. There were 15 different
states (and Canada) represented this year by nearly 30 different car clubs. This is very
exciting to all the folks here in Detroit. We welcome anyone who wishes to attend our
meet, whether you have a concourse quality car, or an unrestored cruiser.
Speaking of nice cars, when is the last time you have seen so many beautiful GTOs? With
317 GTOs registered, you would have to answer that question by saying Never"!
What an awesome turnout. So many beautiful cars. Detailed 1966 Tri-Powers, 64
convertibles, 67 Ram Air cars, almost 20 Judges, a chopped top 64, a blown
66, the Royal 69, a confiscated black 67 now used by the police as a
D.A.R.E. car, and the beautiful Class of Champions display of last years top
winners. What else could a goat guy (or gal) expect?
Lots more! How about those breathtaking first place awards? Built by fellow Tiger Russ
Wright, these awards were designed by Bill as GTO Art.
